Yeah that was back before i started djing again and only played live. (i have some live photos coming soon). The original concept came from a discussion jordan and i were having about concepts for parties. (at the time i didnt have a name yet) I was like "we should have a party called dose the aliens where we could have people dress up like aliens and hand out free "treats" for the better lack of the word. (this was back in 1993 so its not like im talking about how i got ripped off at trexx last week) A split second later as he was starting to say "thats not a bad idea", before he even got those words out i was like "FUCK YOU", thats my name.
So in as close to a candy raver way that i would like to admit the idea was that that you humans were the aliens, and i was mellowing you all out with my intergalatic music, thus "dose the aliens".
For some reason tho once i began Djing, promoters across the board dropped the "s" and within a year i became and alien named dose. |

for those that care...
Im having XMAS dinner in 2000 with my girlfriends Tanaya's family including her grandfather who was a retired State Trooper and Judge. (Keep in mind this is about the time the the word "RAVE" was a very dirty word and in the news every week) Out of the blue he says "so youre a DJ, what's your Dj name again, Dose the Alien? How did you manage to come up with that name?" As I feel a kick to my leg from Tanaya under the table I quickly came up with "uh well, i'm a gemini and in spanish two is "dos" but i wanted people to pronounce it "dose" in english not "DOS" as in the operating system and my grandfather worked for NASA so i have always been into space stuff and aliens, thus "Dose the Alien." His responce was "wow that's pretty clever" I would have felt really bad if i somehow ruined my first XMAS Dinner with her family. |

You told me the whole Gemini/Dos story when I asked about your name in the bathroom at "Starstruck". I was disappointed, I always assumed it had something to with acid, now I know the TRUTH! |

| the funny thing is I started to color the only copy of the cube 2 flyer there the night of the party and that was the only one I saved. Haha. Good times Drew!!! I will post many more no worries. I have sometime right now. |

THE FIRST RAVE EVER HELD IN BINGHAMTON NY
[Historical Note] "BELIEVE" was thrown on April 29, 1995 by Cor Productions a.k.a Jordan Vesteyo, and Jennifer Marley http://www.myspace.com/ladyofthehouse (who is still alive and well in the Florida Scene), and Ernesto. The front of the flyer was created by hand and done in colored pencil.
From what i remember of the party they brought so much sound they didnt even use it all. I remember the turntables being set up on a set of bass bins that werent plugged in. Other fun facts included a moment when the police had a noise complaint but upon future review told the Jordan that he could technically turn it up becasue the zone was an industrial zone. The event was thorwn in an old shoe factory that hadnt been used in years. All night long little dust sized pieces of leather kept falling from the ceiling, combined with the baby powder kids used on the floors to aid in dancing causing what would eventually become known as "Bubble Boogers" |

I am really enjoying the glimpse into the history of the Binghamton "scene." In fact, this thread inspired me to do a little research into my own roots, and I stumbled upon this article. I think it's a pretty interesting perspective on the early rave scene in its own right.

I went to my first party completely by accident in 1998. I was roller skating with some of my friends from high school at the Big Wheel, and remember them rolling in gigantic speakers and setting up. I thought it was some kind of concert, so my dad gave me permission to stay. Yeah, I didn't get home til 7am, and I don't think he was too happy!
I was a little weirded out and scared, since I didn't know what to expect. I was offered all sorts of drugs, saw some guy puke in the corner, had some random dude follow me around for a while (which freaked me out), etc. But yeah, techno and glowsticks everywhere! Crazy shit, seeing all this in a place I'd been rollerskating in since I was five. Smoked up for the first time that night, too.
What I really can't believe was the part in the article about the Mount Airy Lodge party. How did I miss this??? 8,500 people, an overdose death, and less than 5 miles from my house! Goddamn! |

| I was sooo scared to play live at chilly II as Moonbase Alpha , I don't even think Drew really heard us before and he was like "Just play for like 2 hrs or so." I think we lasted for about an hour and a half before every bit of memory was used up. I have the whole set on 8mm digital somewhere. |
