so my friend raji is in a band called the sons and heirs, they are a smiths/morrissey tribute band. normally i say "tribute band..please.." but these guys are actually REALLY f*cking good, and seem to do it more of an act.. like, totally true to a smiths show.

anyway, so they played last night at the bell house here in brooklyn, and none other than andy rourke (smiths bassist) came out and played with them!

video below.. my friend is the guitarist (raji marr!)

Frankly, Mr Shankly, this position I've held
it pays my way and it corrodes my soul
I want to leave you will not miss me
I want to go down in musical history

Frankly, Mr Shankly, I'm a sickening wreck
I've got the 21st century breathing down my neck
I must move fast, you understand me
I want to go down in celluloid history Mr Shankly

Fame, fame, fatal fame
it can play hideous tricks on the brain
but still I rather be famous
than righteous or holy, any day, any day, any day

But sometimes I'd feel more fulfilled
making Christmas cards with the mentally ill
I want to live and I want to love
I want to catch something that I might be ashamed of

Frankly, Mr Shankly, this position I've held
it pays my way and it corrodes my soul
oh, I didn't realise that you wrote poetry
I didn't realise you wrote such bloody awful poetry Mr Shankly

Frankly, Mr Shankly, since you ask
you are a flatulent pain the arse
I do not mean to be so rude
but still, I must speak frankly, Mr Shankly, give us money

to say the smiths "suck" tells me your scope of music is extremely narrow and debilitating when it comes to any sort of intelligent conversation on music.

name some other bands that were around for only 5 years and still have as much of a following as they do, sold as many records, and have influenced as many bands as they have..
i guess i shouldn't be surprised that you can't really get into much of a /music/ discussion here, unless its about bleep bloop and what software you use to emulate real drums......

love edm as much as the next ex/jaded/grandpa raver....but broaden your horizons.. you'd be surprised what it can do for you.

yeah, its totally lame.. i mean, standing in front of a couple turntables is definitely less lame than knowing how to play instruments with other people.....

i mean really, if you don't like it.. i understand.. but really? lame?

right, "emo" ... cause "tough as nails" is the real way to live...

The Smiths were emo before all the idiot young bucks came up with that stupid label. The Smiths are a part of our music history. Nuff said. I am not a huge fan but my wife was and is a 80s girl. She was there when it happened lol.

wow, a tasteful answer.
even someting like
"im not a huge fan, hey, i f*cking hate them.. but their impact cannot be disputed, and hey, your friends got to play with an original member..thats cool"

even if i hated cockrock, i wouldn't say "DUH THAT SHITS GAY THEY PLAYED WITH SLASH"

That sucks for you lol. I think Jay-z summed it up "I don't wear skinny jeans cause my knots don't fit."
